CMMC · July 2026
CMMC Phase 2 is suspended. Your SPRS score still counts.
The Pentagon suspended the CMMC Phase 2 requirements in July 2026 and opened a review of the program. NIST SP 800-171 self-assessments and the score you post in SPRS still apply.
Size standards · Aug 2026
SBA proposed a size-standards overhaul.
SBA proposed consolidating nearly 1,000 size standards into 338 industry groups, which it estimates would make about 110,000 more firms small. Comments closed on September 21, 2026; nothing changes until a final rule is published.
FAR overhaul · Sept 2026
More FAR rewrite rules are open for comment.
On September 18, 2026 the FAR Council published a second set of proposed rules under the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul, covering parts including 8, 12, 13, 15 and 52. Comments are due October 19, 2026.

Is CMMC still required?
As of September 2026, the CMMC Phase 2 requirements are suspended while the Department of Defense reviews the program. NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment requirements and SPRS score reporting still apply to contracts that include DFARS 252.204-7019 and -7020. The free CMMC status tool walks through what applies to you.
